Announces call-list auditions for

VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO and DOUBLEBASS


There are no current vacancies. These auditions are for possible occasional work.


Occasional players are compensated at Toronto Musicians' Association general scale rates.


Sinfonia Toronto presents the Masterpiece Series in the Meridian Centre for the Arts, Jane Mallett Theatre and Trinity St-Paul’s Centre, performs regularly in other Ontario cities and presents

education/outreach performances in the Greater Toronto Area. The 2022-23 season will include a CD recording and a possible tour of South America in the spring of 2023. The orchestra has toured in China, Germany, Spain, South America and the US. Sinfonia Toronto has recorded four CD recordings, including a JUNO Award winner. Its repertoire includes most of the standard chamber orchestra repertoire as well as many contemporary works; it has given numerous premieres.


Auditions are by invitation, to be held on Monday, October 3, starting at 1:00 pm at the Willowdale Emmanuel United Church, 349 Kenneth Avenue, Toronto. Invited candidates will be informed of their individual audition time.


Audition repertoire:


1. first movement from a concerto of the candidate's choice

2. excerpts from

Mozart - Symphony No. 40, 1st movement

Dvorak - Serenade for Strings, movements 2 and 5


No sight-reading will be required. Applicants must play their concerto choices without piano accompaniment. Music for the excerpts can be downloaded from imslp.org.
