PRINCIPAL SECOND VIOLIN

Sinfonia Toronto operates under a collective bargaining agreement with the Toronto Musicians' Association. The current 3-year contract extends to the end of 2024-2025 season. 

Auditions are by invitation. This is a Canadian national audition. Candidates must be Canadian citizens, have Permanent Resident status or hold a Canadian work permit valid through June 2024. Sinfonia Toronto musicians are members of the Canadian Federation of Musicians. 

Audition date: Monday, November 27, 2023 beginning at 1:00 pm

Application deadline: November 26, 2023

Location: Willowdale Emmanuel United Church, 349 Kenneth Av. Toronto

Principal 2nd Violin rate: concerts $221.10; rehearsals $53.83 per-hour.

Audition repertoire:

1. first movement from one of the following concertos:

Mozart Nos. 3, 4 or 5; Beethoven; Mendelssohn E Minor or D Minor; Brahms; Sibelius; Khachaturian; Glazounov 

2. First violin excerpts from:

Mozart - String Quartet No.14 K. 387 “Spring” - 1st movement

Tchaikovsky - Serenade for Strings - 1st movement

No sight-reading will be required. 

Applicants must play their solo repertoire without any accompaniment.
