    SECTION VIOLIN VACANCY

 The engagement will begin as of September 24, 2024 

Sinfonia Toronto operates under a collective bargaining agreement with the Toronto Musicians' Association. The current 3-year contract extends to the end of 2024-2025 season. 

Auditions are by invitation. This is a Canadian national audition. Candidates must be Canadian citizens, have Permanent Resident status or hold a Canadian work permit valid through June 2025. Sinfonia Toronto musicians are members of the Canadian Federation of Musicians. 

Audition date: Monday, June 24, 2024 beginning at 1:00 pm

Application deadline: June 21, 2024, 5 pm

Location: Willowdale Emmanuel United Church, 349 Kenneth Av. Toronto

Principal 2nd Violin rate: concerts $221.10; rehearsals $53.83 per-hour.

Audition repertoire:

1. first movement from one of the following concertos:

Beethoven; Mendelssohn E Minor or D Minor; Brahms; Sibelius; Khachaturian; Glazounov; Prokofiev 1 or 2;  

2. First violin excerpts from:

Mozart - Symphony No. 40 - 1st and 4th movement

Tchaikovsky - Serenade for Strings - 1st movement

No sight-reading will be required. 

Applicants must play their solo repertoire without any accompaniment.
