Teresa Suen-Campbell, Harpist
Harpist Teresa Suen-Campbell impressively proves that her beloved instrument can be the star of the show on MY VOICE from Navona Records. Juxtaposing harp concertos by Händel and two contemporary composers of Chinese and Canadian descent, MY VOICE illustrates the instrument’s soloist potential through the ages. The title is aptly chosen: Suen-Campbell, Chinese-Canadian herself, not only offers a marvelous exposé of her voice as a harpist, but also in the very literal sense. The final concerto requires the soloist to sing a soprano passage on top of virtuosic playing, a feat Suen-Campbell pulls off with remarkable beauty and panache. Highly original and exquisite.
