Testimonial messages from our colleagues (in alphabetical order)

It has been my great pleasure to hear my music performed by Sinfonia Toronto, under the consummate leadership of Nurhan Arman.  I will forever be grateful for the support they have provided to my own music with a number of personal commissions over the years, including what has probably become my most popular work, Flanders Field  Reflections.  The ensemble  championed this piece in particular, with repeat performances as well as making it the Juno-winning title track of their CD devoted to my music.  This organization has achieved great success to date and I am continually impressed by the imaginative programming and support shown to Canadian composers and soloists.  Here’s to the next 20 years and beyond!

I had the pleasure and the honor of collaborating five times with the Sinfonia Toronto, performing very different repertoires: from contemporary Canadian composers to the great  European classics. All our performances always impeccable thanks to the wonderful 15 musicians directed by the unforgettable Maestro Nurhan Arman. Fast and professional in grasping the wishes of the soloist, they make the soloist feel at ease in every passage and support in every interpretative choice. A team to envy ... by Stradivari! Ad multos annos!

CHAN KA NIN Composer
It is my honour to have known Maestro Nurhan Arman for over twelve years. During this time I was grateful that Toronto Sinfonia had performed several of my compositions in the Masterpiece Series. Every time I attended the Sinfonia Toronto’s concerts I was exhilarated because of the beautiful strings music in the program – some of which were rarely heard. Maestro Arman’s artistry in interpreting music is superb because he has a heart and soul. There is always a heartfelt intimacy in his performances. It is admirable that Maestro Arman found the Sinfonia Toronto twenty years ago, as a result, we could experience wonderful classical music from all over the world as well as exquisite contemporary music from Canada. Very often, we could also hear young artists making their debut with the orchestra. Under Maestro Arman, Sinfonia Toronto becomes the champion of concert music. Congratulations on the 20th Anniversary of Sinfonia Toronto and Bravo to Maestro Nurhan Arman!

To Maestro Arman and the wonderful musicians of Sinfonia Toronto - congratulations on your 20th Anniversary season!!  When I think back to some of the seminal moments in my
performance career, I invariably remember all the wonderful collaborations I've had the
opportunity to have with Maestro and Sinfonia Toronto. From our 2012 CD together, Premieres, which debuted at the top of the Nielsen Soundscan Billboard charts in Canada, to performing the achingly beautiful Affairs of the Heart Concerto with the composer, Marjan Mozetich in attendance, every event has been special.  From rehearsal to concert, it is always apparent that the musicians love working with the Maestro, and I could easily feel their desire to add their own energy to his musical vision at every turn. Such a positive spirit is infectious and long-lasting! Sinfonia Toronto represents the very best of what a chamber ensemble can achieve; here's to 20 more triumphant seasons and beyond!"

Happy 20th Anniversary Sinfonia Toronto. You have been a strong presence in Toronto’s musical scene serving the city’s classical music lovers and introducing to these audiences many brilliant emerging Canadian and international composers, while giving first hearings to a number of talented Canadian composers. On a personal note, you have brought on stage a number of my compositions and you have introduced me to some masterful works by Canadian composers that I admire. For both of these gifts I am truly grateful. Here’s to the next twenty years and beyond!

My heart felt congratulations to the incredible Sinfonia Toronto, and their remarkable conductor /music director Nurhan Arman in its 20 years young of pride and joy in music making!
Sinfonia Toronto is a bliss to the audience with impressive performances and u
nique programming, bringing together many young talents and star artists; and bravo to Maestro
Arman’s support of living composers, particularly Canadian repertoire that introduces audience to a fresh genre and music appreciation. In the last three years, I am very fortunate to have three of my works “Mira” (solo violin and strings), Capriccio Ballo (solo violin and piano with strings), and Quest (for strings) performed by Sinfonia Toronto. The dedication and high caliber of the players resulted in such exciting and moving performances, it has been a treat for me and the audience to hear new works played with great passion and splendid musicality.
Happy 20th Anniversary Sinfonia Toronto! And many more to come!
