SINFONIA TORONTO ANNOUNCES 2008-2009 SEASON
Sinfonia Toronto
and Music Director Nurhan Arman are delighted to announce their 2008-2009 concert season, featuring some of the most beautiful repertoire ever written for chamber orchestra. Next season will mark the orchestra’s 10th anniversary season. Highlights of this special season will include the release of a new CD on Marquis Classics, a European tour that will include radio broadcasts on Germany’s Hessischen Rundfunk network, and the seven-concert Masterpiece Series on Friday evenings at Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road in Forest Hill.
In announcing the new season, Maestro Arman said, “It’s a great pleasure to present a concert series with so many highlights and so many masterpieces of the repertoire. I am thrilled that artists like violinist Alexandre Da Costa, cellist Denise Djokic and pianist Darrett Zusko will be performing with the orchestra.” He added, “we are also looking forward to touring Germany with two great programs.”
Guest soloists appearing next season include pianists Angela Park and Darrett Zusko; violinists Alexandre Da Costa and Mary-Elizabeth Brown; cellist Denise Djokic; and one of Europe’s most outstanding clarinet virtuosos, Darko Brlek. Germany’s Rista Savic will lead one of the concerts and Nurhan Arman will conduct the majority of the season.
